ME |
I started this blog for a few reasons. Mostly, I just love to write. I was approaching a "big" birthday and while I was mostly ok with it I secretly wondered if something was wrong with me since so many friends were dreading this day themselves. I started reading other blogs so I could see how other women lived. The more I read, I felt compelled to write and found it strangely liberating, even when I didn't have any followers yet. I have discovered it is really fun. I have met some of the greatest bloggers over the last couple years, and am totally honored to be part of such a wonderful, close-knit but far-reaching community! I hope this year is the year I will get to meet some of my blogging friends live and in person. That would be awesome.
My body is aging in years, but I feel better than I did in college. Is it so wrong that I want to indulge in chocolate, drink wine, yet feel great in a bathing suit? I want to bring home the bacon, but still be a great mother, wife, and semi-domestic goddess. I want it all and I don't see any reason why I can't have it. Am I delusional? Maybe!

Did someone say PIZZA? But I made it, so I know its healthy. |
I love food. I like to eat healthy meals, but not only because I want to take care of myself. I eat the good so that I can eat the bad too. I don't mean fast food (which I rarely ever eat) but things like really good cheese, a nice steak every now and again and of course the requisite cocktail(s). I will never be a vegan, but you will often find me eating vegetarian meals to balance out those times when I want to eat meat and other animal products. I have discovered how important it is to be in control of what gets put in your food. Chemicals? You can keep them. I have also been thinking a lot about the effects mass food production has on our environment. My dream would be to live on a farm so I could grow and raise my own food. Maybe someday. Except when I retire, I am moving to the beach. Just so we're clear.

Beach near Malibu at sundown. I can get used to this. |
Fortunately, I absolutely love being active. I keep moving so I can keep eating. You following me now?
Running. Hiking. Yoga. Kickboxing. Pilates. Walking. Biking (well I have a beach cruiser, but that IS biking).
Weight training. Bring. IT. ON.

I can't speak to anyone in the morning before this |
I am a huge fan of singing loudly in the car on the way to work. I am fueled by caffeine and full of life at 8:00 a.m. Having kids will make you a morning person, you really have no other choice. I love music, especially live music. Without it I think I would die. A wee bit dramatic, but every day of my life has a sound track!

Running keeps me fit, and SANE |
Do I sound crazy when I say running is so much fun? Yeah. I know.

Second best way to start my day |
During yoga, I feel so strong yet so at peace. It is a rare time I can honestly say I can shut everything out. I'm sorry, did you say something?

I live for the Farmer's Market! |
I live in a small town on the outskirts of a big city. I wouldn't have it any other way. 15 minutes in either direction I can be in the sticks or partying at a dance club (I'm usually in the sticks). Branching out a little further I can be skiing in Tahoe or basking in the sun in Santa Cruz. I've got wineries all around me. It's beautiful here, but please don't move here. I like it the way it is. Simple and uncrowded...no offense!
I am married to my law enforcement husband that for privacy reasons I'll call Chip, the mother of 2 boys - my 5 year-old "Monkey" and my 3 year-old "Buddha". I work full time, but with Chip's opposite schedule, its like I'm always working over-time. I am juggling a lot here, but I am determined not to "drop the ball," - or my wineglass! Hope you enjoy my blog! Thank you mucho for stopping by!

ReplyDeleteI found you through Bloggy Moms! I thought for a minute you were describing me, "I want to eat chocolate, drink wine, and be hot. I want to work and make money but still be a great mother, wife, and semi-domestic goddess. I don't want to choose." So I am blogging and mothering and finding the sense of community!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog and look forward to reading more!
Thank you for this hungrigyrl - I can totally relate. I turned 40 last year and have been having a bit of a meltdown over it. I look forward to following your blog! Great fun.
