No filter did the ripe strawberries justice |
I have brought my boys up with the love of breakfast as well. Without them articulating it, I believe it is their most favorite meal of the day also.
Today I adapted this Cooking Light recipe for French Toast Waffles. I use wheat bread for almost everything and always have it on hand, so we substituted the french bread in the recipe. I also eliminated the melted butter. I had started out wanting to make waffle batter from scratch with whole wheat flour and decided this was such a nice short cut! Heat the waffle iron, mix the egg, milk, cinnamon, vanilla. Dip the bread, heat in the waffle iron, and voila!
The powdered sugar, strawberries and 100% maple syrup was just icing on the...toast. Enjoy!
Wow! That looks YUM! I.must.go.try.it.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love breakfast too. It wasn't always the case, but in the last few years I have come to love it!
I love breakfast too! I just had a whole wheat pancake with blueberries and agave syrup. Great post! Looks delish...

ReplyDeleteI love the idea of waffle iron french toast! We used to make grilled cheese sandwiches in the waffle iron too! Yummy!

ReplyDeleteI love breakfast, but especially when I don't have to cook it for myself! I try to do a big breakfast on Sunday for the family usually pancakes and something not usual for us.
ReplyDeleteI;m totally a breakfast person. Don't remember ever missing breakfast. I try to keep it quick and simple, just toast and coffee most times.
ReplyDeleteLove that shortcut idea to just use the bread! My daughter loves a particular whole grain bread (can't remember the brand) that has chopped nuts & whole seeds in it. And I love it too.
ReplyDeleteFrench Toast Waffles, made easy...love it! :>
