A Twist on Pancakes

This should keep me going for a while!
What is it, you ask? Today its a whole wheat pancake, made from scratch (pat, pat). A spread of almond butter and some banana slices. Pretty tasty.

I have also discovered how much nicer my food pics look when I use a program like Instagram. I do not boast photography skills, and I am usually too focused on just getting a picture of what I am eating or cooking to make a nice presentation like a lot of other food blogs too. I really need to be better about that. So for now I will cheat! Photo today is my typical "not thinking" shot. Gotta work on that.

Tonight we are having "date night" and going to sushi with some new friends. Sushi is so pretty. Hope I don't screw it up and can manage to take some photos of our food.

Happy Saturday! What did you have for breakfast today? What do you have planned this weekend?

  1. yummy those look delish!! we made pancakes last night and for the first time I actually loved the recipe I created, next time I am going to top it with almond butter and bananas!! sounds great!!

  2. mmmmm....I must try almond butter.
    Great post!

  3. Sounds good!

I've never tried smartphone. But, natural light will really help any photo. If you have a window in your kitchen, putting the food next to it to take the shot. I usually take the plate out on my deck or put it in front of the sliding door to snap a pic when I shoot food. I've also only used picnic for a watermark, but you can try that too, free through flickr.

I keep meaning to try almond butter, now I have a pic in mind to help me remember to pick some up next time I make a Whole Foods run! :>

  4. son is a sucker for anything with bananas!

  5. What a coincidence! I made pancake the other day and added a bit too much wholewheat flour and it turned out a little harder than normal. But it's ok, very filling :)

  6. My favorite combo- almond butter and banana (with some chocolate doesn't suck either)...and the zucchini recipe looks delic too- thanks for the great ideas!
